What Is An Energy Monitoring System, And How It Works?

 Energy Monitoring System

Energy monitoring system is one of the essential requirements for lowering energy costs in enterprises. Automation has several advantages in the industry. This system continuously checks the energy use of the various regions of the plant.

This information provides us with a summary of the energy consumption of various areas, information on unexpected fluctuations in energy demand, and other details such as the specific time, specific plant area, and specific process.

Architecture

The energy monitoring system employs the following architecture to communicate between energy metres, PLCs, and SCADAs.

PLC and SCADA architecture are used in this system, as shown in fig. To connect with the PLC, cet-enviro are utilising an RS485 protocol PLC. There is also an Ethernet protocol for communicating between the PLC and the SCADA PC.

Energy Meter

Energy metre is a power monitoring device with certain additional functions, such as interface with other intelligent devices using Modbus and Ethernet protocols and providing real-time readings. This device is used to monitor voltage, current, frequency, power, power consumption, power factor, and various other parameters.

PLC

The user logic is used to operate the process using a programmable logic controller (PLC). A microprocessor-based CPU, Power Supply, Input and Output modules, and a Communication module are all included in a PLC.

The logical software is installed or downloaded into the CPU as a LAD (ladder diagram) or FBD (functional block diagram). The CPU keeps track of the inputs and adjusts the outputs according to the logic of the user programme, which can include Boolean logic, counting, timing, sophisticated math operations, and connectivity with other intelligent devices.

SCADA

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition is a piece of software that allows we to monitor, control, and gather data from a process. SCADA systems, as a result, are used to monitor and control physical processes in industry and infrastructure on a vast scale and over long distances.

Why do cet-enviro  use Energy Monitoring System?

· Identify the sectors of the industry that use excessive amounts of energy.

· Monitor energy consumption trends such as current, voltage, and power factors, among other things.

· Planning for future energy consumption and cost reduction.

· Identify a specific place where we're wasting energy.

· Cost-effectively maintain the power factor.

Advantages of Energy Monitoring System

· Live to monitor energy usage from a SCADA screen in many industrial regions is possible with this technology. There is also a real-time and historical trend facility for analysing energy consumption.

· By measuring changes in energy consumption, it is feasible to improve energy utilisation with this technology.

HOW DOES ENERGY MONITORING WORK?

An energy monitor uses the following fundamental procedures to measure the amount of electricity used in our house or business:

· When cet-enviro  turn on an appliance, it receives energy from an alternating current (AC).

· Through the power cord, AC travels continuously between the electrical outlet and our device.

· A magnetic field forms around the power cable when the AC changes.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ENERGY MONITORS?

Investing in energy monitoring system as a business owner or a homeowner pays out handsomely. With the rising cost of electricity, we can no longer afford to run energy-guzzling gadgets at our home or office. Furthermore, energy monitors are a valuable tool for individuals who desire to reduce their carbon footprint and combat climate change's dire forecasts.
